A Useful Life

God wants Christians to live a useful life. He is worthy of having everyone live a life that is useful to Him. When we knowingly refuse to live for the Lord we are telling Him by that refusal that we don*t believe He is worthy. A life lived for self rather than for the Lord is wasted. A life is a terrible thing to waste. The physical lives God gives us are precious. Even more precious is the eternal life He gives. Both are gifts of God. Living a useful life improves its quality and multiplies one*s rewards forever.

Author Unknown: Only one life *twill soon be past . . . Only what*s done for Christ will last.

Mark 8:35: For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel*s, the same shall save it.

Matthew 6:19: Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

1 Corinthians 3:11-15: For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man*s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man*s work of what sort it is. If any man*s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man*s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

Romans 12:1: I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

Matthew 7:24-27: Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

Even if we give our lives to the Lord we don*t give him much when compared with what He gives us. Living our lives for self is like trying to hold on to jello.

James 4:14: Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.

Job 7:7: O remember that my life is wind: mine eye shall no more see good.

Psalms 102:3: For my days are consumed like smoke, and my bones are burned as an hearth.

1 Peter 1:24: For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:

1 John 2:17: And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

I wasted 43 years of my life before I came to Christ and I still waste large chunks of it. How about you?
