A Vital Connection

Vital: Of or characteristic of life, essential to life, full of life, animated, very important.

What kind of connection do you have with God? Do you have any connection with Him at all? Has your connection with God changed anything in you? Has it changed anything about your behavior? Has it changed your mind about anything? Does the connection supply your needs? Is the connection a positive thing? Do you enjoy it? Does it energize you? Are you aware of it often? Does it comfort you? Does it guide you? Are others aware of it? Do you speak about it? Is there anything else like it? Is there anything to compare to it? Is it the most important thing you have? Is it the best thing you have? Do you quench its influence upon you? Is it wise to do that? Do you yield to it? Do you only yield partially to it? Are you controlled by it? Was there a definite time when God gave it? Has it kept you from sin? Has it lessened your desire for sin? Do you dirty it up? Do you think it is wonderful? Has it benefited you? Has it made a difference to those around you? Is it the most influential thing you have? Do you study it? Are you learning more about it? Is it an eternal connection? Will it draw you to heaven some day? Does it connect you to heaven? Does it bind you to God forever? Does it make you acceptable to Him? Does it cleanse you of sin? Do you nurture it? Are you thankful for it? Is the vital connection created by the Holy Spirit? Is the vital connection the Holy Spirit? Is the vital connection made possible by the death of Jesus Christ? Is the connection Jesus Christ? Why isn*t the connection more important to you?

People who become saved as children usually haven*t gone as deeply into sin as adults. The change that occurs in them and in their lives when they become saved may not be as drastic or as noticeable as in one saved as an adult. People who are saved as children may not be as aware of the difference made by getting connected to God. There is no excuse for those of us who were saved as adults not to be aware of the difference He makes.

The more we repress the influence of God upon us the less confidence we will have that the connection exists. The more we repress the influence of God upon us the less we will enjoy it. The more we repress the influence of God upon us the less noticeable will the connection be to us and to others.

I am thrilled many times when I come across a passage in the Bible that speaks in some way of that connection. I am thrilled by the knowledge that the connection is to me personally, that I am connected to God.

The more we grow in Christ the more the connection will grow. When we first become saved the connection might seem like a tiny capillary, a tiny blood vessel. Not much blood flows through a capillary. As we grow the connection ought to become more like an aorta. The blood that flows through an aorta is more like a flood. The aorta is close to the heart. The closer we get to the heart of God the bigger the connection will be. The volume of blessings will be multiplied. The intensity of the blessings will be multiplied.

We dirty up the connection. We plug it up. The bigger the connection the harder it is for us to plug it up and keep it plugged. God wants to keep it clean and free-flowing. He promises to do that if we want that too.
