About The Holy Spirit

He is a gift and He gives gifts. A few weeks after I was saved I told an unsaved individual that I had received the gift of the Holy Spirit. I knew very little of His involvement in every aspect of our salvation.

Acts 2:38: Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

He plays an irreplaceable part in our Spiritual birth, in our becoming children of God.

John 3:3: Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. 4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother*s womb, and be born? 5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. 8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

He renews us daily and is shed upon us abundantly.

Titus 3:4: But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, 5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; 6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;

2 Corinthians 4:16: For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

He is sent forth into the heart of everyone who receives Jesus.

John 1:12: But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

Galatians 4:6: And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

He sheds the love of God into the hearts of everyone who has received Jesus and become His child. The work of the Holy Spirit in a person and his life is evidence that He has Christ in his heart.

Romans 5:5: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

He leads us.

Romans 8:14: For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

He teaches us.

John 14:26: But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

He wants to fill us.

Ephesians 5:18: And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

Christ baptizes every believer with the Holy Spirit. That is the baptism that saves.

John 1:33: And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.

He seals us.

Ephesians 4:30: And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

NO UNBELIEVER has the Holy Spirit. Without Him there is no Christ and no salvation.

Romans 8:9: But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
