All Wrapped Up In Self
When I am all wrapped up in myself I can only get about as far as a dead mummy gets. When I am self-centered I travel in tiny little circles around myself and get nowhere. I am especially not getting where the Lord wants me to go.
John 10:27: My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
When I am selfish I am not following Jesus.
Mark 16:15: And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
When I focus only on my little problems I am not going and I don*t reach others.
Philippians 2:3: Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
When I am focused exclusively on me, I value self too much.
Psalms 139:23-24: Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: 24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
When I stay in my little world I am not in the way everlasting.
Matthew 22:37-39: Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
When I am stuck on myself I am not loving the Lord or anyone else as I should.
Ephesians 5:18b: . . . be filled with the Spirit;
When I am filled with self I am not filled with the Spirit.
Psalms 100:2: Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.
When I am serving self I am not serving the Lord and I am not glad.
Psalms 119:32: I will run the way of thy commandments, when thou shalt enlarge my heart.
1 Chronicles 4:10: And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.
