Amazing All Powerful God

The truths and realities about God, His powers and His uniqueness are amazing. They ought to be more exciting and interesting to a believer than anything our paltry imagination can come up with. It has been said that the greatest miracle is God Himself. If we believe in Him, we have no problem believing in the miracles of the Bible.

Young people now-a-days seem to me to have a heightened fascination with imaginary beings that have supernatural powers, supernatural speed, and supernatural intelligence. Truly, God is the only one with any supernatural powers. I watch very little TV largely because so many of these programs and characters are so unrealistic and are actually untrue. They are the product of uncontrolled imaginations. When my generation was young, we also had our imaginary heroes. We had superman, spider-man, batman, cowboy heroes and other types of strong men.

II Corinthians 10:5: Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

The imagination of an unsaved person can be sinful. We who have trusted Christ can have what I*ll call a sanctified imagination based on Biblical truth.

I now have a hero whose powers go far beyond anything any human being can imagine. His name is Jesus Christ. His power is the power we need to know about and trust. We ought to marvel at His power and be in awe of it.

Ephesians 3:20: Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end, Amen.

Luke 1:37: For with God nothing shall be impossible.

God has power that men can*t even dream about. His power is infinite (unlimited). Our powers and even our imaginations are finite (limited).

Diamonds are the hardest substance known to man. This powerful God we worship could turn diamonds into jelly, He could cut them into a thousand pieces. He could melt them. He will burn them up some day. He spoke the world (including the diamonds) into existence. The Bible teaches that some day he will destroy it and them.

II Peter 3:10: But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,

We who are believers don*t need to worry about when God burns up the present heavens and earth, since He will create a new heaven and a new earth where there will be no sin, suffering or death.

Revelation 21:1: And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

Matthew 28:18: And Jesus came and spake unto them saying, all power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

Matthew 6:13b: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

His power is eternal. Man sometimes discovers new things and finds more things he can accomplish and better and faster ways to accomplish them. God knew about them all along.

Psalms 145:10-11: All thy works shall praise thee, O Lord; and thy saints shall bless thee. They shall speak of the glory of thy kingdom, and talk of thy power.

God*s works and His creation teach of His power. Saints means simply believers in God. We ought to speak of the glory of His kingdom and of His power and praise Him for them.

Jeremiah 10:12: He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heavens by his discretion.

A passage in Luke speaks about one of Jesus powers that is very needful to us, the power to forgive sin. Jesus physically demonstrated His power by healing the sick man to prove that He has power to forgive sins.

Luke 5:24: But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go to thy house.

Luke 4:32 And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power.

Are we astonished by God?

Luke 9:43a: They were all amazed at the mighty power of God. . . .

Are we amazed by God*s power?

John 10:17-18: Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received from my Father.

Who else has power to come back to life?

Romans 1:20: For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

The passage teaches that His power is eternal. Also, his power can be seen by what He has created. If we look studiously at the creation, we can see that His powers are way beyond what we can even imagine.

II Timothy 3:5: Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

False religions do not believe God has the powers that He claims or they attribute His powers to someone or something else. (Idolatry)

The chorus of the wonderful old Hymn The Solid Rock goes like this:

On Christ the Solid Rock I stand;
all other ground is sinking sand.

I hope you are not standing on sinking sand.

Peter speaks of the only power that is sufficient to keep us:

I Peter 1:5: Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

Are you being kept by that incredible power?

John 10:28: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father*s hand.

Psalms 60:11: Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.

Vain means useless, so spiritually speaking, we are weak, hopeless and lost. God has all power, we have none. Trust Him!!
