Amend Your Doings This Day
When we truly receive Jesus, we begin to amend our doings. The Christian*s way of life is continuing to amend his doings for the rest of his life. God helps us to do that. His Holy Spirit reproves us of our sin. Then we confess it and forsake it and He forgives it.
Jeremiah 35:15: I have sent also unto you all my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them, saying, Return ye now every man from his evil way, and amend your doings, and go not after other gods to serve them, and ye shall dwell in the land which I have given to you and to your fathers: but ye have not inclined your ear, nor hearkened unto me. 36:3 It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the evil which I purpose to do unto them; that they may return every man from his evil way; that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin.
2 Chronicles 7:14: If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
1 Thessalonians 1:9: For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God;
John 5:14: Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee. 8:11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
Romans 6:19: I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.
God*s mercies and compassions are new every morning.
Lamentations 3:22: It is of the LORD*S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
Notice that those two words are plural and that they are new every morning. They fit perfectly with our every-day need. He is willing to give us a fresh start every day to amend our doings because we need that every day. It would be wise to begin every day with a prayer something like this:Matthew 6:9: After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come. this day Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And this day forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13 And this day lead us not into temptation, but this day deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
