Amusement

Paul LaBotz:

Satan uses many means to A-muse us. Which means *NOT to think.* Consequently if Satan can keep God*s children amused, he has gained much ground, because then they also stop speaking. For it is not possible to muse (think) and to be amused (not to think) at the same time. Satan knows this too well, and considers it his business to keep people amused, either by radio, television or some other means.

Genesis 6:5: And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

Proverbs 23:7a: For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: . . .

Men have been going astray in their thought life ever since Adam and Eve fell into sin. The Hebrew word for imagination means not only the imagination but also the purposes and desires. Going off into our own evil imaginations is bad enough but we can go off into the imaginations of multitudes of other men. Television in particular is mostly the imagination of other men.

2 Corinthians 10:5: Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

I have neglected the word repentance in much of my ministry since the word is not widely used and is little understood in our society today. My thinking was wrong. I have come to believe that it is better to explain what repentance means than to neglect it. It means to change one*s thinking. Many believe that they can become Christians without changing their thinking. That is simply not possible.

Acts 20:21: Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.

Hebrews 6:1: Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,

2 Peter 3:9: The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Luke 13:3: I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

There are obviously two different kinds of people in the world, those who perish and those who repent. Blessedly, when I received Jesus, even though the preacher did not use the word repentance, the Holy Spirit of God taught me that He was going to make some changes. I did not know what the changes would be but I knew that I needed them and I wanted them. I knew that I would remain lost without them. While I did not know the meaning of the word repentance, I had the activity of repentance. I am thankful that I am now learning what it means. For a believer, repentance should become their way of life. Right thinking, right speaking and right doing should become their way of life. The more we deprive Satan of his influence on our thinking and the more we seek God*s influence on our thinking, the better.
