Anti-Semitism

Anti-Semitism means being anti (against) Jews or anti (against) Israel. It is sin. God Himself chose the people of Israel for many special purposes. We mortals do not fully understand His reasons for choosing them. His reasons may not be logical to us before our thought processes will become perfected when we get to heaven. His reasons will probably seem illogical to an unbeliever. A Christian should never be anti-Semitic.

Luke 2:30-32: For mine eyes have seen thy salvation, Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people; A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.

The Holy Spirit gave us the Bible primarily through Jewish authors. God gave us our Lord Jesus Christ through the physical lineage of Jewish people. He has made many promises to them which He has already fulfilled and many other promises that will yet be fulfilled. He gives them some blessings and promises that He does not give to Gentiles. He gives many instructions on how other people groups are to be a blessing to them.

Romans 1:16: For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

Romans 2:9-10: Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile; But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:

Acts 13:46: Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.

It is interesting that everyone in the world is called a Gentile EXCEPT the Jews. No other nationality has unique a name for everyone else in the world. Our individual nationalities might call others foreigners or aliens but we are also foreigners and aliens to them.

God promised His spiritual blessing to the descendants of Abraham. He promised His spiritual blessing to the descendants of Abraham*s son Isaac. He did not promise spiritual blessing to the descendants of Isaac*s half-brother Ishmael. He only promised physical blessings to them. He promised His spiritual blessing to the descendants of Isaac*s son Jacob who was renamed Israel. He did not promise His spiritual blessing to the descendants of Israel*s twin brother Esau. He only promised physical blessings to them. He guarantees His spiritual blessings to Christians. He only gives physical blessings to unbelievers. The Jewish people are earlier beneficiaries of God*s spiritual blessings than Christians. Christians are given many of God*s blessings through the Jewish people. Christians are to provoke the Jewish people to jealousy and thereby win them to Christ and thus bless them.

Romans 11:11: I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy.

Romans 10:19: But I say, Did not Israel know? First Moses saith, I will provoke you to jealousy by them that are no people, and by a foolish nation I will anger you.

Genesis 12:3: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

Psalms 122:6: Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.

Just a few of the many scriptures follow that speak about God*s special dealings with and promises to the people of Israel.

Luke 24:47: And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

Romans 11:1: I say then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.

Jeremiah 31:37: Thus saith the LORD; If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, saith the LORD.

Acts 13:46: Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.

Acts 18:6: And when they opposed themselves, and blasphemed, he shook his raiment, and said unto them, Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean: from henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles.

Genesis 18:18: Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him?

One of the first Bible doctrines the Lord brought to my attention after I became saved was His special relationship with the Jewish people. The first genuine Christian organization that I contributed to financially was a ministry called The Christian Jew Hour. I do not know if it still exists. I believe that the Lord has made my ministry more fruitful because of the love He has given me for His chosen people, the people of Israel. I remember a number of Jewish people that I knew before I became saved. Even then the Lord permitted me to see a uniqueness about them. Each and every one of them was special or exceptional in one way or another.
