Avoiding Love And Joy

That sounds like a strange thing to do, but a majority of mankind do it. They do that because God*s love is corrective and they do not want to be corrected. They are proud and do not want correction. They believe there is nothing wrong with them but we are all sinners. Like a loving parent corrects their child, God corrects His children.

Hebrews 12:6: For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. 7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? 8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. 11 Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.

Proverbs 3:12: For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.

Proverbs 13:24: He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.

Foolish children prefer parents that do not discipline them and unbelievers prefer a God who hates them (who wouldn*t chasten or correct them). Foolish believers also attempt to avoid God*s chastening and correcting love. Wise children want the correction of their parents and wise children of God want His correction. Children who do not receive correction from their parents become miserable and children of God who reject His correction also become miserable. They believe they can be happy without God*s correction, but men are only truly happy when they are what their Creator wants them to be doing what He wants them to do.

Job 5:17: Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:

Psalms 94:12: Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O LORD, and teachest him out of thy law;

Because God loves us He sent Jesus to die and pay the penalty for our sin. And because He loves us He gave us the Bible, churches, pastors, teachers and many Spirit-filled believers to love us AND correct us.

2 Timothy 3:16: All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Men do not want to be perfect, they want to be what they already are. Multitudes make themselves miserable by avoiding God, His love and His correction.

Romans 5:5: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

God is the source of love and the Holy Spirit gives it to us. The same individuals who avoid the love of God have no love to give others. If people avoid God, the Bible, Biblical churches and the love and correction of Spirit-filled believers and yet believe that they can be happy, they deceive themselves. They have nothing more than second-rate and fleeting happiness. Those who avoid His love and correction avoid His joy too. God is also the source of that. It*s a package deal.

Galatians 5:22a: But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, . . .
