Bare Minimum Christians 2

Mark 12:30: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

Many times we are bare-minimum employees, bare-minimum friends, bare-minimum husbands and wives. Bare-minimum Christians do not please God and they cheat themselves out of a lot of blessings. It is very difficult to tell the difference between a bare-minimum Christian and an unbeliever, between the weak and the phony. Do you enjoy half-hearted friends or half-hearted mates? I think not. What would it be like to have a half-hearted God. Thankfully, God is not a half-hearted God.

Jeremiah 32:41: Yea, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will plant them in this land assuredly with my whole heart and with my whole soul.

God wants us to be whole-hearted for Him and promises blessing upon us if we are. The Bible speaks often about this issue. Dividing our loyalty between God and other things is worse than no loyalty at all to Him.

Psalms 119:2: Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart.

Matthew 6:24: No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

Revelation 3:16: So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

James 1:8: A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

2 Corinthians 6:14: Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

Ecclesiastes 9:10a: Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; . . .

1 Corinthians 10:31b: . . . whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
