Be Ye TransformedRomans 12:1-2: I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Paul beseeches Christians to present their bodies, be not conformed and be transformed. These things should be the desires of our hearts. Paul is speaking here to his brethren, those who have been born into the family of God. These things are impossible to those who have not been born again and they have no desire for them. These things should come naturally to those of us who have been born again. None of us do them all the time and perfectly, but if we don*t do them at all, there is something horribly wrong. Either we have not been born again or we are controlled by our flesh. We are born into the family of God the moment we receive Christ but the renewing and transforming take time. It is a growth process and some of the growth and transformation should happen every day. A baby grows some physically in his mother*s womb but most of his growth occurs after his physical birth. All of a Christian*s spiritual growth happens after he has born spiritually.
The renewing of your mind is like an educational process. It happens through the teaching of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God. It happens when the experiences, events and circumstances of our lives correspond exactly with Bible truth. It happens because the new born is given spiritual senses that are not unlike his physical senses, sight, hearing, taste, touch and smell. And, of course, we must be careful to only learn from our senses when what we sense is Biblical.Matthew 13:15-16: For this people*s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. 16 But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear. John 10:27: My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
Psalms 34:8: O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.Acts 17:27: That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:
2 Corinthians 2:16: To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?
When Christians present their bodies unto God, it includes their minds and senses. When they withhold their bodies from Him, the renewing and transforming and spiritual growth won*t happen. They will be under-sized spiritual cripples.
