Because They Have No Changes
Psalms 55:19b: . . . Because they have no changes, therefore they fear not God.
2 Corinthians 5:17: Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Many have religions that don*t change them. They have gods that don*t change them. They don*t want a God that will change them. They don*t want the God of the Bible. They don*t want the changes that He makes in His people. When He saves us He changes who we are, what we want to do and what we are able to do.
When I surrendered my heart to the Lord Jesus I knew that He was going to make some changes in me. I didn*t know anything very specific about what the changes would be but I wanted them. I had made a mess of myself and my life. I knew that I was helpless to straighten out my messes and that only God could do that. I had no power to make myself happy. I somehow knew that only God could do that. I did not know the right things to do but I knew that God knew. I knew that I could not do the right things but I knew He could make me able to do the right things. I knew that I could not make the right changes in me and I knew that He could.
Jeremiah 13:23: Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil.
Becoming a Christian is a one-time miraculous change. And once you become a Christian that miraculous change produces a multitude of miraculous changes. We grow. We surrender to the first change and then we surrender to the other changes. Being born is a one-time miraculous thing. Growing is also a miraculous thing. New-born babies are usually about 20 inches long. Then pretty soon they are 25 inches long. Then pretty soon they are 30 inches long. Most of us grow to more than 60 inches long.
Here are some words of an old song that are almost what it is to become a growing Christian.
There*ll Be Some Changes Made
They say don*t change the old for the new
