The Blood Of Christ 2
Many individuals and churches have a distaste for the mention of the blood of Christ. They purchase hymn books that do not mention blood at all or very little. They do those things because they do not want to recognize the horrible nature of their sin. A horrible price had to be paid for horrible sin. If you are an individual like that or if you prefer a church like that, you have some repenting to do. We are seldom willing to repent of sin and stop committing it if we believe that it is not really very bad. We need to recognize how evil it is. There is nothing that can give us an understanding of how horrible our sin is more than considering the horrible price that had to be paid for it.Romans 6:23a: For the wages of sin is death; . . .
Romans 5:6, 8: For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. 8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
If we do not receive Jesus and His substitutionary payment for our sins, we will be required to pay them for ourselves. Without the shedding of Jesus* blood, nothing good would ever come from God to lost and sinful souls.Hebrews 9:22: And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.
Leviticus 17:11: For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.
1 Peter 1:18-19: Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; 19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
