Characteristics Of Christians

Galatians 6:15: For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.

In the eyes of God, nothing causes men to improve in any acceptable spiritual way except becoming a new creature. And of course, only Jesus can transform men in the way that is acceptable to God.

2 Corinthians 5:17: Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Ephesians 1:6: To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

When God makes individuals new creatures they remain different individuals but they have more important things in common than they have differences.

A Christian is an individual who has been made acceptable by God and to God.

When we are acceptable to God we should be acceptable to ourselves and when we are unacceptable to God we should also be unacceptable to ourselves but it doesn*t always work that way.

There will be a conflict within the new creature that was not there before, a battle between his flesh and his new nature. His flesh will never want to be an ideal Christian and his new nature will never want to be fleshly. Men without that conflict within have not been made new creatures. Their other characteristics can be seen by others while their inner conflict will usually only be seen by themselves and by God.

Galatians 5:22-23: But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

The ideal Christian will be more loving than he was before and more loving than the unbelievers around him. He will have more joy than he had before and more joy than the unbelievers around him. He will be more at peace with God, with himself and with others than he was before. He will have more patience. Gentleness will replace his aggressiveness. His bad behavior will be replaced by good behavior. He will have more power than he can use and will be able to keep it under control. He will acquire a life-style that is healthy both physically and spiritually.

He will have faith in God like he never had before. He can obey the Lord like he never could before. He will be grateful to the God that He did not even know before. He will become humble, especially before God but also before other men. The quality of his life will be far superior. He will be under the influence of Christ instead of Satan. He will have a new desire and ability to avoid sin.

Philippians 2:13: For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

God works in His new creatures in many ways that He does not work in the old creatures. I hope you are aware of the ways He works in you and that your new nature is winning the battles.
