Cheerleaders For The Lost
That is a very accurate description of many so-called spiritual leaders. They encourage their followers to do this and that, do more of this and that and do this and that better. They sometimes produce good copies of Christians. But no matter how good they are, copies of Christians are not Christians. The cheerleaders for the lost get away from the need-to-know facts of the gospel.
What individuals need to know is that we are all sinners. That we all deserve to be paid the wages of sin, which are dying and going to the Lake of Fire. We need someone else to be paid the wages of our sin in our place. Jesus is that someone and He did that. We need to receive Him into our hearts and lives. We need Him to change our hearts and lives. Then and only then can we be the people He wants us to be living the lives that He wants us to live.
Cheerleaders for the saved will often and inevitably stress the need-to-know facts of the gospel. They will understand that sometimes individuals who have Jesus in their hearts will not live like He is living in their hearts. They will encourage Christians to live like who they are. They will understand that the lost will sometimes appear to be living like the saved, like the copies of Christians that they are. The oftener they stress the basic need-to-know facts of the gospel, the more the copies of Christians will understand that they are just copies of Christians. Some of them will learn that they need to receive Jesus in order to become real Christians and will receive Him.
Some of the copies of Christians will not want to become real Christians. They will want to be in charge of their own hearts and lives and they will prefer cheerleaders for the lost. The cheerleaders for the lost will encourage their followers to live like someone who they are not, to live a lie. Cheerleaders for the lost and copies of Christians will often seek and find one another. There is a great difference between trying to teach the saved to live like they are saved and trying to teach the lost to live like they are saved.
Romans 3:23: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Romans 6:23: For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 5:8: But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
John 1:12: But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
Ephesians 3:17: That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
2 Corinthians 5:17: Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Romans 8:11: But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
1 John 5:11-12: And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
He that hath not the Son of God hath not life cannot possibly live a life that he does not possess and that is not in him. Are you a copy of a Christian or have you received Jesus into your heart? Do you prefer cheerleaders for the lost or do you prefer leaders who often stress the need-to-know facts?
