Complex Arrangements Of Dust

Psalms 8:4: What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

Genesis 2:7: And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Genesis 18:27: And Abraham answered and said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord, which am but dust and ashes:

We wipe dust and shake if off our shoes. We sweep it out of our homes. We want them as dust-free as possible. When I was a youth we had furnaces and had to carry out the ashes. God has taken substances that have no value whatsoever, substances that we scorn, and made of them living objects that are so valuable to Him that He gave the life of His only begotten Son for them.

Author unknown: We are very complex arrangements of dust, but dust nonetheless. God puts breath and life and usefulness into these complex arrangements of dust.

Isaiah 53:6: All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

When we consider what we were and still are and what God has made us, we should be appalled at going our own way, even for a moment. We were not only dust and ashes, we were rebellious dust and ashes going our own way. It would be a wonderful thing if He gave us life for just one moment, one day or one lifetime. How much more wonderful that He wants to give us ETERNAL life. And how much more wonderful still that He wants to make us His children.

1 John 3:1a: Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: . . .
