Do We Love And Obey Jesus
Romans 5:8: But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
John 14:15: If ye love me, keep my commandments.
He loved us enough to suffer and die for us. God the Father loved us enough that He permitted His only perfect begotten Son to die for us. Can you imagine permitting a son or daughter of yours to die for no reason other than to save the soul of a depraved sinner? Do we love Him enough to obey Him? The answer is not until We receive Him and He helps us to love Him.
1 John 4:19: We love him, because he first loved us.
Galatians 5:22a: But the fruit of the Spirit is love, . . .
Romans 5:5: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
God*s descriptive adjectives for us and the sins we committed when we simply didn*t want to know about Him may be a shock to you. Not wanting to know about Him does not seem to us like such a horrible offense, but it is connected to a multitude of other sins.
Romans 1:28a: And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; 30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31b covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: 32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
Before I received Christ I was guilty of all eleven of the sins in bold type and was worthy of death. I would add ingratitude to the list. I was not grateful that Jesus died for me. I was desperate for Him to pay the wages of my sin. Whether you have committed all twelve of those sins or not, you were just as worthy of death as I was and still am in my flesh. You also are desperate to have someone pay the wages of your sin.
James 2:10: For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.
When we receive Christ, He gives us the Holy Spirit and changes us from God-haters to God-lovers. Have you received Him and has He done that for you?
Exodus 20:5: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
Deuteronomy 5:9: Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me,
Psalms 68:1: Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered: let them also that hate him flee before him.
Romans 8:7: Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
Before we received Jesus we had no idea how evil we were and even after we receive Him it is a hard truth to believe. We all either hate Him or love Him. Which is it for you?
