The End Of Yourself

Galatians 2:20: I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Many Christians say that they became saved when they reached the end of themselves. That is a very good description of what it is to receive Christ and become a Christian. I reached the end of my life without Christ and began a new life with Him. I am living this new life in the same old body. But the differences between my old life and my new life are like the differences between night and day. It was the end of unforgiven sin. It was the beginning of forgiveness. It was the end of aimless wandering. It was the beginning of living with a purpose. It was the end of helplessness against sin. It was the beginning of victory over it. It was the end of doubt about the future. It was the beginning of knowing about a glorious future. It was the end of spiritual confusion. It was the beginning of spiritual order. It was the end of Satan*s power over me. It was the beginning of freedom in the Lord. I encounter many individuals in nursing homes that have come to the end of themselves and know it. They are willing to begin anew with Jesus. I also encounter some that stubbornly cling to their old life. I hope you have come to the end of yourself and begun with Jesus too.

Mark 8:35: For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel*s, the same shall save it.

Galatians 2:20: I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Romans 6:11: Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Alive unto God. Another wonderful description of what happens to us when we receive Christ. One man told me that when he came to faith in Christ, somebody died and that somebody was him.
