Do you ever feel worthless? Do you feel like your life has been wasted? Do you feel that your life has no value? You are not alone. King Solomon felt the same way. He was the richest and most powerful king the world had ever seen. He ruled wisely over God*s people. He had everything. Health, wealth, power, honor, the list is endless. And yet he was aware that in the grand scheme of things he wasn*t very important.
Ecclesiastes 2:17: Therefore I hated life; because the work that is wrought under the sun is grievous unto me: for all is vanity and vexation of spirit.
Feeling worthless can be a good thing. It can make us amazed and grateful that God values us. The feelings of inadequacy and worthlessness that I have experienced have really helped to bring me to Christ. I shall share with you a couple of the things that have made me feel worthless in the hope that it will jog your memory about things that made you feel worthless. I want you to understand the great value that God places on you. Perhaps it would be helpful for each of us to examine the things that make us feel worthless and the things that make us feel valuable.
When my daughter was 3 or 4 years old I took her for a ride on my bicycle. She sat on the bar in front of me sideways. I told her to keep her feet out away from the front wheel. She couldn*t quite do it. Her foot got caught between the fork and the spokes of the front wheel. It scraped a thumbnail size piece of skin off her ankle. We took her to the hospital and had an xray taken of her ankle. There was no serious harm but I felt so worthless. I had hurt the most precious thing in my life, my little girl.
There have been people in all of our lives that have tried to make us feel worthless and others that made us feel valued, loved, important. I think of my grandma. Oh, how she loved me! We should find our greatest value in the fact that God loves us and that Christ loved us and died for us. Oh, how He loves us!!
Romans 5:8: But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
1 Peter 1:18: Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
The value of an object is measured by what someone is willing to pay for it. To God we are worth the precious blood of Christ. Praise His Holy Name!! Precious ones, be aware of the value God places on you and be encouraged.
