Forgiveness For My Prayers
I often need forgiveness even for my prayers. Do you? Since I received Jesus I try to bow before the Lord, get on my knees or on my face before Him and pray fervent prayers. I fail. I have a knee that now hurts when I get on my knees so I get on my face on my bed. That is too comfortable. I have too often prayed for what I want with little regard for what God wants. This morning when I was on my face I suddenly realized that I was not even praying. I was planning my day. I was not fervent. Worst of all, I had left God out of my prayer. I was in the right place and in the right position with the right intentions but God was not even in my thoughts. I was not seeking His Kingdom or His righteousness or His will first. I had not asked for the help of the Holy Spirit. I was not praying in the Spirit. I was praying in the flesh. The wrong way to start my day!!
Matthew 6:33: But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Romans 8:26: Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
Ephesians 6:18: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
1 John 5:14: And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
Luke 18:11: The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.
James 5:16: Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
James 4:2: Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. 3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.
Proverbs 28:9: He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.
I wonder how often my prayers have been unanswered because I have not studied my Bible or I have turned my ear away from hearing and obeying the Lord. Thank God, He even forgives my prayerlessness and my sinful prayers!!
Psalms 23:3a: He restoreth my soul: . . .
Psalms 139:23: Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: 24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
Lead me first of all in my prayers!!
