Get A Life

That was an expression commonly used in the past to tell people to go away, don*t bother me, don*t interfere with my life . . . get a life of your own. I would use the expression in a different way. I would like to say Get a life, receive Jesus. Without Him individuals are spiritually dead.

1 Timothy 5:6: But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth.

Ephesians 2:1: And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

Colossians 2:13: And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;

One important facet of the life that we get when we receive Jesus is that it is eternal.

John 17:3: And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

The Bible teaches that life with Christ is eternal, but that only speaks of the quantity of it, the length of it. There is also a greater quality to it. The greater quality of eternal life must begin in us before we die physically or it will be too late.

Hebrews 9:27: And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

I trust you will enjoy the passages that speak about the higher quality of a Christian life and that you have experienced those higher qualities. If you have not received the Jesus of the Bible who elevates the quality of our lives, you have not received Him at all.

John 10:10: The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

Romans 6:4: Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. 11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Galatians 2:20: I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Titus 2:11: For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

1 Peter 4:1: Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin; 2 That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God. 3 For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries: 4 Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:

This is not to say that the Christian life is always smooth sailing.

Psalms 34:19: Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.

Psalms 37:23: The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way. 24 Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.
