Get Carried Away
Pastor Jim Gray was one of my mentors. When he received Christ, his mother told him Don*t get carried away with this religion thing. Because He was willing to get carried away by the Lord, a Biblical church of about eight hundred was planted and built in Kansas City. In its growth, it went through four building programs. He was on the board of a Bible college and served the Lord in many other ways. Because he got carried away he was a great blessing to me and thousands of others. Because he got carried away thousands of individuals will spend eternity in Heaven rather than Hell.
If your religion isn*t powerful enough to carry you away in this life, how could it be powerful enough to save you and carry you to Heaven. If your religion is not worth getting carried away with, you need one that is worth it. God is worth getting carried away with. His will is worth getting carried away with. Eternity is worth getting carried away with. Love is worth getting carried away with. Most people get carried away with things that are not worth it. The Bible calls anything that is not serving God vanity. Most get carried away with vanity.
Ecclesiastes 1:14: I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and vexation of spirit.
Ecclesiastes 12:13: Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
Being saved and serving God are worth getting carried away with. And helping others to become saved and serve God are worth getting carried away with.
Luke 16:11: If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?
Geneva Bible Notes on Luke 16:11:
That is, heavenly and true riches, which are contrary to material wealth which is worldly and quickly departing.
Albert Barnes* NT Commentary:
True riches. The graces of the gospel; the influences of the Spirit; eternal life, or religion. The riches of this world are false, deceitful, not to be trusted; the treasures of heaven are true, faithful, never-failing.
I am delighted that Jesus carried me away from the vanity, uselessness, emptiness and spiritual poverty of my past, carries me through life and will carry me into a glorious future.
Deuteronomy 1:31b: . . . thou hast seen how that the LORD thy God bare thee, as a man doth bear his son, in all the way that ye went, until ye came into this place.
