Give Yourself The Best Gift

1 Corinthians 12:31: But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.

The title of the study and the verse above seem to sound selfish. But the best gift you could possibly give yourself is to give yourself fully to the Lord, to give Him complete control of your person and your life.

Proverbs 23:26: My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways.

Romans 12:1: I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

Mark 8:35: For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel*s, the same shall save it.

2 Corinthians 12:14b: . . . I seek not yours, but you: . . .

He wants your heart, your body and your time. He wants YOU! When you receive Him He receives you. When you give yourself to Him you get HIM! Faith is willing to receive Him and give oneself to Him.

John 1:12: But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Ephesians 1:6: To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

When you give this day to Him you get a better day.
When you give this moment to Him you get a better moment.
When you give yourself to Him you get a better you.

2 Corinthians 5:17: Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

When you give yourself to Him you get a leader who knows where He is going and where to lead you.
When you give yourself to Him you get the true riches.

1 Timothy 6:17: Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;

When you give yourself to Him you get good and perfect gifts.

James 1:17: Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

When you give yourself to Him He meets every need.

Philippians 4:19: But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

When you give yourself to Him you give yourself a master who has all power.
When you give yourself to Him you give yourself a master who has all wisdom.
When you give yourself to Him He controls everything in your life for good.

Romans 8:28: And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

When you give yourself to Him you get a life.

Mark 8:35: For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel*s, the same shall save it.

When you give yourself to Him you get a more abundant life.

John 10:10: The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

When you give yourself to Him you get peace.
When you give yourself to Him you get joy.
When you surrender your will to Him you get a better will (His).
When you give Him your little world you get heaven.

Mark 8:36: For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

When you give yourself to Him you really don*t give Him something of great value.

Genesis 18:27: And Abraham answered and said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord, which am but dust and ashes:

James 4:14: . . . For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.

When you give yourself to Him you get everything.

Revelation 22:13: I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.

When you give yourself to Him you get an endless, infinite and eternal list of good. We ought to give ourselves to Him every day. We are foolish if we do not. Have you got the idea?

This may seem like a contradiction to some. We cannot really give ourselves the best gift. Without the help of God we mortals are never able or willing to give ourselves to Him. Those who do not receive Christ are never given His help in that matter or any other. Something divinely mysterious happens to those who do receive Christ. They are given God*s help in receiving Christ and giving themselves to Him. His help is available to them in all matters forever after. None of them (you and I included) fully avail themselves of His help. Our giving ourselves to Him is part of the gift He gives us. We cannot give anything to Him UNTIL He removes our inability and unwillingness.

Romans 3:11: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.

After receiving Christ we CAN give Him stuff.

The Bible teaches that He removes our sin from us as far as the east is from the west; casts it into the deepest sea and behind His back. The first and most important sin that He removes from us is the sin of unwillingness to trust Christ and give ourselves to Him.
