Giving Yourself To The Lord

Have you given yourself to Him? That is what we do when we truly receive Him. Can you say along with songwriter George Wade Robinson I am His and He is mine?

2 Corinthians 12:14: Behold, the third time I am ready to come to you; and I will not be burdensome to you: for I seek not yours, but you: for the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children.

Romans 12:1: I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

Romans 6:13: Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. 16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

When we give ourselves to Him we are just giving Him what already belongs to Him, what he is already entitled to, rather like a thief who gives back something he stole. Giving ourselves to Him is reasonable. Withholding ourselves from Him is unreasonable. If we withhold ourselves from Him we are next of kin to thieves. Keep in mind that it is only because of His mercy that we can give ourselves to Him.

Genesis 1:27: So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

Isaiah 64:8: But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.

John 1:11: He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

1 Corinthians 6:19: What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God*s.

2 Corinthians 6:16: And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

It is a delightful and powerful truth that He wants to be OUR GOD. He wants to be MY GOD. He wants to be YOUR GOD. He is willing to be my God personally and I must willingly be His man personally. It does me no good if He is your God and it does you no good if He is my God. The phrases MY PEOPLE and MY GOD are all over the Bible. It ought to thrill you every time you read one of them.

John 20:28: And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.

Philippians 4:19: But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
