God Can And Did Write A Book
Exodus 31:18: And he gave unto Moses, when he had made an end of communing with him upon mount Sinai, two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God.
I recently met a man who has read the Bible all the way through, but he told me that it was all written by men. He has convinced himself that since it was written by men he can pick and choose what he wants to believe. He has a God that he can create and recreate in the vagaries his own mind. He has a god that is smaller than his mind. He has an idol.
2 Timothy 3:16: All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
When I quoted that verse he said that was written by a man too.
2 Peter 1:19-21: We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: 20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. 21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
Genesis 6:5: And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
Jeremiah 17:5: Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.
The curse for trusting in man includes trusting in oneself.
Proverbs 3:5: Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
I have a hunch that if I quoted those passages he would also say that they were written by men. He is making some serious spiritual mistakes. He is trusting in himself. He is making up his own private interpretation. Millions of men have written books. If God could not write a book, he would be inferior to millions of men. The gentleman either believes that God cannot write a book or that He has not written one. Please pray for him. He is on dangerously thin ice spiritually. He is over 80 years old. If we cannot trust God to do simple things like writing a book and preserving it, how can we trust Him for things that are much more complex and require much more power? Creating the universe for instance?Romans 10:17: So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Faith in God includes faith in His Word, The Bible.
John 5:46-47: For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me. 47 But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?
John 12:47-48: And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. 48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.
Matthew 5:18: For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
John 20:30-31: And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: 31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.
John 21:25: And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.
