God Deserves Our Love
Luke 10:27: And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.
He deserves our love, but that isn*t all. He deserves our trust, our obedience, our worship, our praise and our surrender. He deserves to possess all that we are and all that we have. He deserves the love of every man, woman and child on earth. He deserves to have us tell everyone that we possibly can that He is also worthy to possess all they are and all that they have.
2 Samuel 22:4: I will call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.
Psalms 18:3: I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.
Revelation 4:11: Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
Revelation 5:11-12: And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands; 12 Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.
The angels in Heaven know better than we do what God deserves. I believe that sin could defined as not giving Him what He is entitled to. There are multitudes of passages in the Bible that describe God as worthy and multitudes of passages that describe us as unworthy. We are unworthy of His love. What we are worthy of is death and Hell.
Romans 3:23: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Romans 6:23: For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Note that the gift of God is eternal life and that it is through Jesus Christ. How can those things be? How can we be given eternal life who deserve eternal death? When Jesus died on that cross He was given what we deserve so that He can give us what He deserves.
Romans 5:8: But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
2 Corinthians 5:21: For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
Jesus always gives the Father what He deserves. Without Jesus living in our hearts, we cannot and do not give God anything of what He deserves. When we invite Jesus into our hearts and He begins to live there in the person of the Holy Spirit, we have His help and can begin giving God the love and everything else that He deserves.
Galatians 5:22a: But the fruit of the Spirit is love, . . .
The Holy Spirit is the source of that love. Our flesh is not!!
Romans 7:18a: For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: . . .
His love causes us to love Him.
1 John 4:19 We love him, because he first loved us.
Have you ever been ashamed that you did not give God what He deserves? Have you received Jesus? Have you begun giving God what He deserves? Have you begun to know all that He deserves?
