God Has Jobs For YOU
Whatever else you do in your life, God has jobs planned that He wants you to do for Him. I have no idea what He wants you to do with your life but I do know that you won*t be fulfilled until you find His plan and get in it. If anyone had told me three decades ago what The Lord would do with my life I would have said it was impossible.Ephesians 2:10: For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
Sometimes He wants to replace completely what we were doing with what He wants us to do. Sometimes He wants us to continue doing what we were doing, but do it for Him. In the case of the Apostle Paul He replaced everything he was doing and everywhere he went. In the case of the Gadarene demoniac, Jesus sent him back to minister in the same place where he had been a lunatic.Mark 5:18-20: And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him. 19 Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee. 20 And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel.
God made great changes in the life of that man and He wants to make great changes in the life of every believer. When I received Jesus, I somehow understood that He was going to make some changes in me and my life. I didn*t know the specifics of the changes but I knew that He had a better plan that I ever had. So I began asking Him what to do next, one decision at a time. Many times when I didn*t ask I got in trouble.
I was saved while listening to Christian radio on earphones while at work. Not long after that I went to the door of my workplace and asked the Lord if He wanted me to walk out that door and go into full-time ministry. I sensed more than I heard what He wanted me to do. It was like a still small voice telling me to go back to work. I had no doubt whatsoever that was what He wanted me to do.
Much of my work was routine and repetitive and didn*t require all of my attention. It permitted me to listen to Christian radio and the Bible on earphones while working. I could do the work, listen to the Bible and still be one of the most productive employees. The Lord kept me in that job so that I could hear His Word for hours almost every day for about a decade. While I have only read the Bible through a few times I have heard it on tape or CDs dozens of times. I was taught the Bible by three or four wonderful teachers most every workday. It was a Bible education that cost me virtually nothing as I worked and supported my family. In addition to some Bible study each morning, the Lord has always provided Biblical churches and Christian examples so I could see the Bible*s impact on the lives of others. As I fed on the Bible and grew spiritually the Lord began giving me jobs to do for Him. The jobs grew in significance as I gained more knowledge of the Bible. If the Lord keeps you in a secular job, I suggest you can at least listen to the Bible in your car on the way to and from work.
Whatever the Lord wants you to do for Him, you will need all of the Bible you can get. He wants to provide whatever you need of the Bible to do whatever jobs He has for you. The more of the Bible you learn, the more varied and fruitful the jobs He will entrust to you. Without the Bible, you would be like a disorganized workman with no tools.Isaiah 55:11: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
Philippians 4:19: But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
