God*s Work In Salvation

God*s work before salvation was planning it and designing it. God did His planning and designing because He knew way ahead of time that His salvation would be needed. It was custom designed for the human race. In many senses it is one size fits all. In many other senses it is designed for one individual at a time. We are all saved from different sins and in different circumstances. We are all given different tasks. All of the tasks fit his purpose and they are all to bring glory to Him. Have you ever considered how great His salvation is? Each individual*s salvation is a miracle. The billions of people that God has saved and will save represent billions of miracles! God*s plan of salvation and his execution of the plan is far greater than a man could devise or bring about.

Hebrews 2:3: How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

God*s work in salvation is giving it. His work in salvation is changing us. His work in salvation is deciding how much to change us. His work in salvation will be to make us perfect at Christ*s return. His work in salvation is deciding who gets it and when. His work in salvation is providing every facet of it. His work in salvation is leading us. His work in salvation is commanding us to trust Him. His work in salvation is causing us to live forever. He is willing to do all those things and more for us. He enjoys giving salvation.

Luke 12:32: Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father*s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

Out part in salvation was to need it. Our part in salvation was to receive it. Our part in salvation was to be willing. Our part in salvation is to be changed. Our part after salvation is following Him. Our part after salvation is obeying Him. Our part after salvation is enjoying it.

God*s part in salvation is to give eternal life. Our part is to live it. Some try to live it who do not have it. That is impossible. Some try to imitate the kind of life God puts within His children. They deceive themselves.

He is the potter. We are the clay. We should not try to be self-made clay.

Salvation is what God says it is. It is what He wants it to be. We must accept it as He makes it and as He gives it. As recipients we cannot redesign it, either before or after we have it. If we could redesign it, it would not be a gift from God. It would be a gift from ourselves.

Salvation is a very one-sided transaction. He has and gives all that is needed. We need and are given every part of it. Salvation is very complex from God*s perspective. He handles all the complexities. It is very simple for us. All we need to do is trust Him. Salvation requires a great deal of power. God has the power. We have the weakness. We are like a vacuum that only He can fill.

2 Peter 1:3: According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

Try to imagine the power needed to make you a child of your parents. You didn*t have that. Imagine the power needed to make you a child of God. You didn*t have that either. Imagine the power God needed to speak to our hard hearts. The hard heart doesn*t have ears. It doesn*t even want to hear.

John 1:12: But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Imagine the power God needs to separate the spirit of a man from the body of that man at death and take that spirit to Himself in heaven. Imagine the power needed to raise that body up from death and make it incorruptible and eternal and put the spirit of that man back into that new body. Imagine the power it takes for a man disconnected from God to be connected to Him. Puny little man cannot even find God much less connect himself to god. Only God can accomplish that.

2 Peter 1:4: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

2 Corinthians 5:17: Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Exodus 31:3: And I have filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship,

Ephesians 5:18: And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

Only God could establish for us a connection to His Divinity. Only through that connection does He make the needed changes in us. The changes were needed because we were sinful, defiled people and nothing that defiles can enter heaven.

Revelation 21:27: And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb*s book of life.

Salvation is a complete package. It has many facets. We cannot accept just the facets of it that we desire. If we only had a part of it, we wouldn*t have any of it. We cannot have only the part of it that lasts forever. The part that lasts forever must be given to us in this life. It does not begin after this life. God does not put it in people after their death.

Hebrews 9:27: And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

1 John 4:17: Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.

We cannot have the forgiveness of sins without being born again. We cannot be saved without faith. We cannot live the Christian life without the filling of the Holy Spirit. We cannot obey without hearing the command. We could never have eternal life without Christ.

1 John 5:11: And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

We could not breath without lungs and air. Our blood could not circulate without veins, arteries and a heart. Our muscles could not function without the nerves that direct them. Our eyes could not see without light. We could not walk without legs. We could not fly without an airplane. It is easy to see those physical realities. Can we also see the similar spiritual realities? The spiritual realities for a child of God are locked together and work together just like the physical realities.

Ephesians 2:10: For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

2 Timothy 1:9: Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

Jonah 2:9: But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the LORD.

Psalms 3:8: Salvation belongeth unto the LORD: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.

Psalms 50:23: Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I shew the salvation of God.

Ephesians 2:8: For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

2 Corinthians 9:15 : Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.

John 6:44: No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

John 6:65: And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.

Thank God that salvation is all of Him and from Him. We are all sinful, weak and pathetic beings that need what He wants to give to us.

Romans 3:11: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.

Job 14:4: Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one.

Even God cannot bring a clean thing out of an unclean thing. But He can put a clean thing into that unclean thing. That is what He does at salvation. He puts Himself into us.

2 Corinthians 4:7: But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

Ephesians 3:17: That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,

1 Corinthians 3:16: Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

Jesus refers to being in us and to God the Father being in Him. Therefore, if Christ is in us God the Father is also there in the person of Christ.

John 17:23: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.
