Good Gifts And Good Things

James 1:17: Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

Psalms 84:11: For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

Good gifts and good things are the same things. And they all originate in God and come from Him. We should not expect to get anything good from any other source. It sometimes appears that we get good things from people. But if they are truly good things, they have come FROM God and merely THROUGH people. Once we get this truth firmly locked into our thinking we will trust God alone and always ask Him for the good things. And when good things come to us we will be grateful to Him alone.

Ephesians 5:9: (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)

Mark 10:18: And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.

Acts 10:38: How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

Jesus went about doing good because God was with Him. Is God with you? If He is, you will go about doing good. If He is with us, we will be channels of His good flowing to others.

Romans 7:18: For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.

We are no better than the Apostle Paul. Nothing good originates in any of us. It is hard to get hold of the truth that God often proves His goodness by what He withholds from us. It is also hard to understand why God gives good things to unbelievers. But unless they come to faith in Him, their good things are only temporary. If they are not willing to recognize the only source of the good things they will come to a horrible end.

When we reject the Good God, what is left? Evil. When we reject His love, what is left? Hate. When we reject His truth, what is left? Lies. When we reject His power, what is left? Weakness. When we reject His wisdom, what is left? Foolishness. When we reject His freedom, what is left? Slavery. When we reject His order, what is left? Confusion. When we reject His peace, what is left? War and strife. What a difference it would make if we could only understand what we reject and what is left for us when we reject the GOOD God!!!

Hebrews 13:20-21: Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, 21 Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

2 Corinthians 9:8: And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:

Colossians 1:10: That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;

2 Thessalonians 2:16-17: Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, 17 Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.

2 Timothy 2:21: If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master*s use, and prepared unto every good work.

There is no excuse for anyone with Jesus in His heart not to go about doing good.
