A Great God Makes Great Changes

Psalms 96:4: For the LORD is great, and greatly to be praised: he is to be feared above all gods.

A Christian ought to be different from those around him because he has gone from having no God to having a Great God. We have a Great God. That is probably the greatest understatement of all eternity.

1 John 4:4: Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

This Great God is the one who makes us different from those around us.

1 Corinthians 4:7: For who maketh thee to differ from another and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it?

If we are Christians, the one who made us Christians, the one who made us different is the Great God. A Christian ought to be different because he has been changed by the Word of the Great God, the Bible.

1 Thessalonians 2:13: For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

A Christian ought to be different because the Great God works in him.

Phillippians 2:12-13: Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

A Christian ought to be different because he is the workmanship of the Great God.

Ephesians 2:10: For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

A Christian ought to be different because the Great God has made him a new creature.

2 Corinthians 5:17: Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Unbelievers have inferior gods. Unbelievers have powerless gods (small g). The gods of unbelievers can come in all different shapes and sizes. Their gods can be things, churches, self, other people, animals, nature, Satan and almost anything else. There are more false gods than there are unbelievers because unbelievers almost always have more than one god. Before I was saved my god was mainly self.

All other gods originate in he that is in the world (Satan). They are all false. There is only one true God.

Isaiah 44:8: Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any.

God calls Himself the Great I Am. If idols were ever truthful they would say I am not!

A Christian ought to be different because he has turned from his false gods to the Great Living God.

A Christian ought to be different because our Amazing God is uniquely and spiritually alive and He can impart His spiritual life to us. A Christian*s life is to be spiritually more abundant.

1 Thessalonians 1:9: For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God;

John 10:10: The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
