How do you define success? Success is obeying God no matter the result. Failure is obeying our flesh. If we move with the powerful God we will get where He wants us to go. If we move against Him we will get nowhere. Are you moving with God or against Him? When we move with God and obey Him we are guaranteed success. When we move against Him and sin we are guaranteed failure.
I understand that outstanding athletes can swim a mile in about 20 minutes. That means that they swim at a speed of about 3 miles per hour. And they cannot do that all the time. If they swim upstream against a current that flows at 3 miles per hour they will get nowhere. When they get tired they will move backwards. When we move against God we get nowhere or lose ground. If a strong or a weak swimmer swims with the current he can swim a long way in a short time. If a strong or a weak Christian moves with God he can get a whole lot farther in the right direction than he can moving against Him. No matter our strength or ability we can get where God wants us to go by simply going along WITH HIS POWER and IN HIS WILL. There isn*t much difference between a strong swimmer and a weak swimmer going with the current and there isn*t much difference between a strong swimmer and a weak swimmer going against the current. Same thing with God. The important thing is going WITH Him.
2 Peter 1:8: For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Who are those who shall neither be barren nor unfruitful? And what things must be in them, and abound?
2 Peter 1:1: Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:
The individuals who shall neither be barren nor unfruitful are faithful believers who have these things in them and abounding: grace, peace, knowledge of God and Jesus, divine power, all things that pertain unto life and godliness, glory, virtue, diligence, temperance, patience, godliness, kindness and love.
If you are a faithful believer, whether God*s will for you is to be a missionary in a foreign land or to do some humble task in a church, God has provided you with a wealth of resources, everything you need to succeed. Remember that success is obeying Him no matter the result. We can be a success this moment and every moment by simply obeying Him.
2 Peter 1:2-7: Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, 3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: 4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. 5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; 6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; 7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
