Have You Been Through The Eternal Wash?

When we run our cars through a car-wash it is usually an incomplete cleaning. When we get a car well detailed and steam cleaned it gets a thorough cleaning inside and out. The nooks and crannies, under the hood, in the trunk, upholstery, carpet, everything gets cleaned.

An unbeliever can clean up his flesh somewhat. He can take a bath. He can behave better. That can get him more approval from men and from himself, but it doesn*t get him to heaven. You cannot put your own heart through God*s wash and certainly not through His wringer. Pseudo Christians can appear clean on the outside but a closer look reveals some real grime. They get a cheap incomplete cleaning. They need to be *detailed* by Jesus Christ.

Revelation 1:5: And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

Jeremiah 17:9: The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

This is a heart in need of forgiveness and cleansing. It is a heart that can deceive itself.

Matthew 5:8: Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

This is a heart that has experienced forgiveness and cleansing. Our heart is the part of us that must go through God*s wash. Only God can look upon the heart. Only God can cleanse the heart. Your heart is the real you. It is the non-material part of you.

1 Samuel 16:7: But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.

Psalms 51:10: Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

A forgiven and cleansed heart knows first-hand from the Lord that He has changed it. In addition to the Lord speaking to that heart He will multiply evidence of the change. The evidence will mount. A person who has taken a bath knows it. He feels clean, he smells clean, he looks clean and he enjoys it. A cleansed heart knows that it is clean and enjoys it.

Romans 8:16: The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

1 John 5:10: He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.

A Christian*s flesh will not always be controlled by his pure heart but that is God*s goal and it should be ours. He wants us to have a pure heart pumping out life-giving righteousness into and through our bodies. A desperately wicked heart will pump out wickedness and deceit.

Luke 6:45: A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

The difference between a desperately wicked heart and a pure one is the always ongoing presence within us of Christ through the Holy Spirit.

Romans 8:11: But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

The always ongoing presence of Christ in a Christian is an always ongoing life and an always ongoing spiritual cleansing.
