Heirs Of God

Are you an heir of Almighty God? If you are, you should know that it is and should be the most important reality in your life.

Romans 8:16-17: The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: 17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

If only we know a little about how glorious it is and how glorious it will be to be an heir of God we can know that we need nothing else. If we were Christians as we grew up and had Christian parents, we got a little taste of what it is like to be an heir of God. If we were rebels against Him we did not get that little taste. The better we know Him the better we know what a privilege it is to be one of His heirs. I am totally insufficient to communicate how wonderful that privilege is and so are you.

Philippians 4:7: And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Ephesians 3:20: Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,

The Christians that know the most about what it is to be an heir of God are the ones that study their Bibles the most and commit themselves the most often and the most completely to Him.

2 Peter 1:2: Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,

Proverbs 16:3: Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.

You are probably like me and you commit yourself to Him often and then your flesh interferes. Don*t give up. Commit yourself to Him again. Even though I did not always please my biological parents, I was always their heir. When I did not please them, I did not enjoy being their heir. When I sin I do not stop being an heir of God but I stop enjoying it.

Psalms 51:12: Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.

1 John 1:9: If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Unbelievers have never experienced being an heir of God and have no chance to know what that is like. They must repent and receive Jesus into their hearts and lives. Then His presence can bless them too. He does not bless those that are not His heirs like He blesses those that are.

Acts 3:19: Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;

I am so glad that the passage says the times of refreshing shall come and that it does not say that they might come. The first time the joy of the Lord comes to an unbeliever is when he receives Jesus into his heart and life. Then he can enjoy the presence of God and the blessings every day. There is no joy or refreshment like God can give to His heirs.
