Hidden Hatred 2

In our world there is a lot of hatred that is obvious. But the obvious hatred is only the tip of the iceberg. We mortals usually only notice what is obvious. God knows about all of it. Some of it is even hidden in the flesh of people who love God with all of their hearts. That includes my flesh and yours.

Romans 7:18: For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.

Romans 3:10 : As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: 11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. 12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

The Bible teaches that we are to love our neighbors, our enemies and strangers. When God makes us aware that others have a need we can meet, we should try to meet it and ask God to meet it whenever we cannot. The needs that we can meet are important but the needs that only God can meet are more important. Apathy is not evidence of love. It is evidence of hatred.

1 John 3:17-18: But whoso hath this world*s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? 18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

James 4:17: Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

Love is the fruit of the Holy Spirit. It is not the fruit of our flesh.

Galatians 5:22a: But the fruit of the Spirit is love, . . .

Romans 5:5: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

The passage does not say that the love of God is shed abroad in our flesh. We must not grieve the Holy Spirit or quench Him. We must permit Him to love others through us. Know that when we love others, it is Him loving them through us in spite of our flesh.

1 Thessalonians 5:19: Quench not the Spirit.

Ephesians 4:30: And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

1 Corinthians 9:27: But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

Galatians 5:16: This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

When we walk in the Spirit, the hatred of our flesh will be hidden from others but we should not hide it from ourselves. We must deal with it honestly, confess it, keep it under, mortify it and ask the Lord*s help to do those things.

Colossians 3:5: Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

Romans 6:11: Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. 14: For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
