Indispensable Or Optional
2 Timothy 2:15: Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Do you think studying the Bible is indispensable or optional? If you want to be approved unto God, it is indispensable. If you do not want to be ashamed before God it is indispensable. If you want to understand God and His will and His Word, it is indispensable. Way too many unbelievers and even believers consider studying the Bible to be optional.
2 Peter 1:3: According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
Do you think Divine Power is indispensable or optional? If we are to have any little or large part in life and godliness, Divine Power is indispensable. If Divine Power is to have an impact on us, it will be through the knowledge of Him. If we are going to have knowledge of Him we will have to study what He says about Himself. He says things about Himself more clearly in the Bible than anywhere else.
If any individual is to have saving faith the Bible is indispensable.
Romans 10:17: So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
If any believer is going to grow as God wants Him to grow the bible is indispensable.
1 Peter 2:2: As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
We need all scripture.
2 Timothy 3:16: All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
Deuteronomy 8:3: And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.
Matthew 4:4: But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
I muddled along without enough of the Bible the first years I was saved. I thought the Bible was optional. I pray you will learn quicker than I did that the Bible is indispensable.
