Insomnia

Psalms 127:2: It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.

Before I gave my heart and life to the Lord Jesus I became angry when I woke up at night or could not sleep. Since my life belongs to Him my night-time wakefulness has become time when I have sweet fellowship with Him. He has made my days AND my nights better. He knows how much sleep I need and how much more I need to spend time alone with Him. He often has more influence upon my thoughts and motivation at night than during the day. When I awake at night and have some time with the Lord, my joy is more joyful and my peace is more peaceful. This may not be scientific, but I rest better and need less sleep after I have had some time with Him at night, and the days that follow are more fruitful for Him. Sometimes when I wake up at night I know that HE woke me and I love it.

Job 35:10: But none saith, Where is God my maker, who giveth songs in the night;

Psalms 42:8: Yet the LORD will command his lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life.

Psalms 119:55: I have remembered thy name, O LORD, in the night, and have kept thy law.

Psalms 149:5: Let the saints be joyful in glory: let them sing aloud upon their beds.

Psalms 63:5-6: My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips: 6 When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.

Psalms 1:1-2: Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

Psalms 74:16: The day is thine, the night also is thine: thou hast prepared the light and the sun.

Luke 2:37: And she (Anna the prophetess) was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day.

When you wake up at night, do you ask Him why? Do you enjoy your night-time wakefulness more since you have been saved than before? If not, I wonder if you are really saved?
