Insulting Yourself

When men say yes to God they must say no to self. Author Unknown:

The hardest thing about being a Christian is saying no to yourself.

John 4:23: But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

When men truly worship God they insult self. The opposite of worshipping God is worshipping self and insulting God. He is worthy of worship. We are not. We are worthy of insults. He is not. The other side of worshipping God is insulting self. The other side of worshipping self is insulting God.

Receiving Jesus is worshipping Him. Rejecting Him is insulting Him.

Submitting ourselves to God is worshipping Him. Rejecting His authority is insulting Him. Obeying Him is worshipping Him. Disobeying Him is insulting Him. Receiving His Word is worshipping Him. Rejecting His Word is insulting Him. Studying His Word is worshipping Him. Meditating on His Word is worshipping Him. Preaching His Word is worshipping Him. Hearing His Word is worshipping Him. Praying is worshipping Him. Ignoring Him is insulting Him. Remembering Him is worshipping Him. Forgetting Him is insulting Him. Loving Him is worshipping Him. Hating Him is insulting Him. Trusting Him is worshipping Him. Mistrusting Him is insulting Him. Giving to Him is worshipping Him. Withholding from Him is insulting Him.

When men worship self they steal something that belongs to God alone. Worship belongs to Him. Insult belongs to us.

Romans 3:12: They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

Romans 3:23: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

If you believe these truths are undeserved insults, you are insulting God. You are calling Him a liar. Believing that you deserve these insults is a good first step toward truly worshipping Him. Without believing that, you will not worship Him above yourself in any way.

When we get to heaven we will be twenty-four/seven worshippers of God. The best any of us can do in this life is to be part-time worshippers. If you have never enjoyed worshipping Him at all in this life, you would never enjoy worshipping Him in Heaven and you won*t get there anyway. If worshipping Him here and now is distasteful to you, worshipping Him in heaven would be eternally distasteful to you. If worshipping Him is torture for you here and now, heaven would be eternal torture for you.

If you get started worshipping Him here and now, you will be surprised and amazed at how much you enjoy it. And you will even be blessed by insulting yourself and disobeying yourself once in a while. It*s called humility.

James 4:6: But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
