Jesus Changes Lives 3
Before I was saved I was ignorant of the truth that Jesus changes lives and that I needed to ask Him to change mine. I do not know where my ordinary ignorance left off and my willful ignorance began. The first time I remember a preacher saying that I needed to have the Lord Jesus change my heart AND my life I asked Him to make those changes. I don*t know if that was the first time I heard those things or if I had heard them many times and rejected them or if I was blind to them. I do now know that I needed Him to make changes in me and my life and that I will always need His correction until the day I go to Heaven.
Since I have been saved, the worst thing that I have done is to minimize or refuse the changes that Jesus wants to make in me and in my life. I do not believe He can change our hearts and not change our lives, at least a little. I have learned that the more I permit Him to change about me and my life, the better!!
If Jesus has not changed your heart AND your life, at least a little bit, I have great difficulty believing that you are saved. If you have only permitted Him to change your life a little bit, you will probably lack assurance that you are saved. The more you permit Him to change your life, the more assurance you will have that you are saved. I do understand that He changed many things instantly when I received Him and that He also makes many changes gradually and step by step after we receive Him. It is called growth. The changes Jesus makes in us and our lives and ONLY those changes are what make us acceptable to God.
Ephesians 1:3-6: Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: 4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: 5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, 6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
Psalms 55:19b: . . . Because they have no changes, therefore they fear not God.
Romans 6:4: Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
2 Timothy 3:16: All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
Galatians 2:20: I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
Mark 8:35: For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel*s, the same shall save it.
2 Corinthians 5:17: Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
