Jesus Has Rights

We usually think only of our own rights. But do we think about Jesus* rights? He created us, He owns us and He has a right to change us and direct us. He gave us life and He has the right to decide what we do with it. Furthermore, He purchased us back from sin with His blood.

Psalms 8:3: When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; 4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? 5 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.

John 1:3: All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

Genesis 2:7: And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

1 Peter 1:18 : Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; 19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

Exodus 20:15: Thou shalt not steal.

When we withhold ourselves and our lives from Him, we are spiritual felons, even worse. I do not recall the exact dollar amount when a misdemeanor became a felony that I learned as a child. It seems that if one stole something worth less than $50 it was a misdemeanor and if it was worth more than $50 it was a felony. How much greater a crime is it when we steal ourselves and our lives from Him?

Mark 8:36: For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

A very wise brother in the Lord said One soul is worth the world. But He was wrong. One soul is worth more than the world. When we withhold ourselves and our lives from the Lord, we are not only stealing something more valuable than the world from Him, after we have stolen it, we throw it away, both a theft and an insult. You are probably precious to yourself but I wonder if you know how precious you and your life are to the Lord Jesus.

Mark 8:35: For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel*s, the same shall save it.

A life lived for self is totally worthless but a life lived for the Lord has immeasurable value.
