Joyless Christians Are Weak Christians

Joy that no man can steal comes with faith in God. It comes from the presence of Jesus. And it is the fruit of the Spirit. I cannot tell you how many individuals I have seen go from sadness to joy when they received Christ. Their countenance changes, their words change and their attitude changes.

Romans 15:13: Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

John 16:22: And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.

Galatians 5:22a: But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, . . .

Jesus* disciples were sorrowful when they learned that He was going to leave them for a while.

John 16:16: A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father.

John 16:20: Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.

John 16:22: And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.

Although no man can take that joy from us, we let go of it sometimes. We don*t remember that we have Jesus in our hearts. When we have Jesus in our hearts, what*s not to be joyful about? We are always indwelt by the Holy Spirit but we are not always filled with the Spirit. When we are not willing to be filled with the Spirit we are not filled with joy. When we quench the Spirit we quench joy. When we grieve the Spirit we grieve ourselves.

1 Thessalonians 5:19: Quench not the Spirit.

Ephesians 4:30: And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

Many Christians have forgotten that Christ is in their hearts. They are not joyful. Many Christians quench and grieve the Spirit. They are not joyful.

Nehemiah 8:10b: . . . the joy of the LORD is your strength.

When Christians are not joyful they are weak. I would rather have joy and strength, how about you?
