Lies Demonstrate Hatred
Proverbs 26:28: A lying tongue hateth those that are afflicted by it; and a flattering mouth worketh ruin.
There have been a lot of people in my life who have lied to me. Some lies have not harmed me but some have. The plain meaning of the passage above is that those that harmed me by lying to me hate me. Many smile as they lie. Many are charming and flattering when they do it.
The liars in our government, media and educational systems actually hate us. Leaders of cults lie to us. Do we depend upon liars to show us the way to Heaven? Are we voting for people that hate us? Do we believe people that hate us? Are we learning from people that hate us? Too bad we can*t put them in prison for the affliction they cause. Perjury in courts of law can be penalized. I wonder why some wealthy individual has not sued some government official, media personality, educator or cult leader for damages that their lies caused him. It*s probably because many of the courts are more interested in clever lies than truth. They simply do not understand the importance of truth and the harmfulness of lies.
John 8:32: And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
Just as truth makes us free, lies imprison us. Liars and those that believe them are both imprisoned. When we deceive ourselves we do ourselves double damage. If we love someone we will tell them the truth. If we tell them the truth it demonstrates that we love them. Just as there is a connection between lying and hate there is connection between truth and love.
Ephesians 4:14-15: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; 15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
John 17:17: Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
Exodus 20:16: Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
Romans 3:4b: . . . yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; . . .
Ephesians 4:25: Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.
John 14:6: Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
