Mans Wrath Hinders Gods Righteousness

James 1:19-20: Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: 20 For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.

When I am angry at others the righteousness of God is hindered. When others are angry at me the righteousness of God is hindered too.

John 3:36: He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

The wrath of man and the wrath of God are seldom aimed at the same offenses. The wrath of God is always right. It is deserved because men commit offenses against Him. Men are usually not concerned with offenses against God. The wrath of man is usually wrong. It is usually unjust. It is usually hasty and happens for selfish reasons. It usually happens when men commit offenses against men. The victims of the offenses deserve Hell just as much as the offenders. Men*s offenses against us are always less than Hell. The victims are not worthy to administer wrath and they are not able to do it justly. There are very few cases when we mortals know the right time and place to administer God*s wrath. We seldom have all the facts about the offenses.

. . . the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.

The righteousness of God is demonstrated in many ways. In this article I will call the righteousness of God the fruit of the Spirit.

Galatians 5:22-23: But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Ephesians 5:9: (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)

When we are angry love is missing, joy is missing, peace is missing, longsuffering is missing, gentleness is missing, goodness is missing, faith is missing, meekness is missing, temperance is missing, righteousness is missing and truth is missing.
