My Sheep Hear My Voice
John 10:27: My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
Romans 8:16: The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
God created us and knows how to communicate with us in a powerful enough way that we KNOW it is Him. His communications with us are not always just words. If you have not received Christ He will only communicate with you in one area. You need to become one of HIS sheep. He will let you know that you must repent of your sin and receive Jesus into your heart and life. In so doing you will be giving Him control of your heart and life and you will become one of His sheep. When you do that the Spirit will bear witness with your spirit (heart) that you are a child of God (one of Jesus* sheep) and will be able hear His voice whenever you need to and are willing to. When you are involved in sin that will interfere with your communications with Him.
Psalms 66:18: If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:
Isaiah 59:2: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
When you are mixed up in sin the first and most important thing is to confess it, forsake it and be forgiven. Then the communications between you and God can go on understandably. Upwards of 95 of God*s communications come to us when we are reading, studying or meditating on the Bible or hearing it taught or preached by a Spirit-filled believer. The Bible is the most trustable source of His communications to us. Nothing He communicates to us in any other way will ever violate any Bible truth, principle or doctrine. If you are not regularly attending a Biblical church, you will miss at least half of what God wants to tell you.
The ears on the sides of our head may or may not be the means of our hearing from God. At times He bypasses our ears and minds and speaks to our hearts. He speaks to the whole man, the real man, the essence of the man. His communications are more than words. Sometimes they are wordless, they are beyond, above, deeper and stronger than words. Sometimes they are ideas, sometimes they are thoughts, sometimes it is a closed door or an open door, sometimes it is an available opportunity or an unavailable opportunity, sometimes they are a reality within us that we cannot even define, except to know that it is God communicating with us.
I am troubled when someone makes this comment: God told me. It seems to make God*s Sacred communication with us something common-place, cheap and ordinary. I estimate that about 5 percent of the communications from God to us are wordless. There are some occasions when I am not sure if the impulses within me are coming from the Spirit of God or from my flesh. I need some clear and powerful words and He provides them. That is unusual. I will share with you one occasion when that happened.
Shortly after I was saved I spent about a month in a rather unbiblical church. They were correct on the truth that we must receive Christ to be saved but they were incorrect on other Bible truths. I did not know that at the time. I was a new believer and not well taught in the Bible. I was seeking God*s will for my life and knelt at the altar at the front of that church. God put some words in my mind: Get on your feet, get out of this place and never come back. I knew it was God speaking to me. Within a few weeks I became a member of a more Biblical church. The first adult Sunday School class I attended was taught on a book entitled Major Bible Themes. The book provided 52 Major Bible Themes and lasted about a year. I received a Biblical foundation that I would not have gotten in that other church.
