Naturally Ignorant

We cannot know the love of God until we experience it. We cannot know the power of God until we experience it. We cannot know what eternal life is like until we experience it. Knowing these things intellectually without experiencing them has no value whatsoever. We cannot know these things until and unless we become unnatural men. We need to become spiritual men. That is what happens to us when we receive Jesus into our hearts and lives.

1 Corinthians 2:14: But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Acts 17:30: And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:

Ephesians 4:17: This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, 18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: 19 Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.

1 Peter 1:13: Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: 15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; 16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

The contrasts between natural men and spiritual men are like the difference between night and day. The Bible describes the natural men as old men and spiritual men as new men. It describes the natural men and lost and the spiritual men as saved.

Ephesians 4:22: That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

Colossians 3:9: Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; 10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

Romans 12:1: I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Luke 19:10: For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

Luke 7:47: Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.

I am happy that even though many receive Christ at an early age they still have a memorable before and after experience of their salvation. Since I was saved in middle age I was a natural man for a longer time. Perhaps that helps me to know more about natural men, particularly how desperately they need to hear and believe the gospel. He makes us spiritual men at the right time and the right place to accomplish His will through us. Surrender to Him at the earliest opportunity. Don*t miss your time and don*t miss His purposes for your life. I am thankful that although I am an old man physically I am a new man spiritually. While we all begin in natural ignorance, those who reject Christ for a lifetime willfully choose to remain in ignorance.

Romans 1:19: Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. 20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
