Once To Die

John 3:3: Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. 7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

Men who have been born once will die twice. Men who have born twice will die once. There is physical birth and there is spiritual birth and there is physical death and there is spiritual death. Those who receive Jesus and become born again won*t die the second death. Physical death is when our spirits separate from our bodies. Spiritual death is being separated from God. Unbelievers already abide in death and unless they repent and choose life, they will abide in spiritual death forever. At their physical death, their eternal fate will be sealed and their spiritual death will continue, first in the horrible place called Hell and then forever in another horrible place called the Lake of Fire. That is called the second death. Believers have passed from (spiritual) death unto spiritual life and will never again experience spiritual death. In the physical realm, birth comes first and death is final. In the spiritual realm, ever since Adam and Eve ate that forbidden fruit, death is first and birth is final.

1 Corinthians 15:45: And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. 46 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. 47 The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven. 48 As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly. 49 And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. 50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

John 5:24: Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

Romans 5:12: Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

1 John 3:14: We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.

Matthew 5:30: And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

Hebrews 9:27: And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

Some might correctly believe that Hell and the Lake of Fire are different places, but unbelievers in both places will be separated from God and that will be their condition forever. Hell will exist until the Great White Throne judgment and the Lake of Fire will exist forever after that irreversible judgment.

Revelation 20:11: And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Revelation 21:8: But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
