Power

We Men are fascinated with power and crave it. We want to be macho. Jesus had power to create the world and the universe and the power to create us. He has power to save us and to make us children of God. He has the power to keep us, make us perfect and take us to Heaven. He has power to guide us and protect us. He has power over death. He has the power to raise us from the dead. He has the power to make us perfect and acceptable to God. And yet we puny little rebels are too foolish to permit Him to reign in our lives. Without Him, we have no power to reign properly in our own lives. Even we believers are too often unwilling to have Him reigning over us, to humble ourselves and surrender to His authority and power. It is amazing how foolish we can be to engage in a power struggle with Him.

John 10:17-18: Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. 18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.

Acts 2:24: Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it.
