Practical Idolatry

Many believers deny the Lord*s power to change their lives. They resist His power rather than submitting themselves to it. When we live the way we want to live rather than the way He wants us to live we deny Him what He deserves, complete authority over us. We don*t ask Him for guidance and we don*t obey it. That is practical idolatry. We are all guilty of that most every day.

2 Timothy 3:1: This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

John 1:12: But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Luke 5:24: But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house.

Romans 1:16: For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

1 Thessalonians 1:5: For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.

Titus 1:16: They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

Jude 1:4: For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

Philippians 2:13: For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

Is God working in you and doing His will in your life?
