Profitable For Correction
2 Timothy 3:16-17: All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
Individuals who reject the Word of God reject His correction. We don*t like to be corrected. Even for Christians it can be difficult and take a long time to learn that God*s correction is a blessing and they will always need it. Unbelievers never learn that. If we are willing to be corrected, the Bible is the instruction book that will help. The first correction happens when we receive Jesus and become born again.
2 Corinthians 5:17: Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Then there are countless corrections He makes in us virtually every day of our lives on earth and He promises to make us faultless at His return.
2 Corinthians 4:16: For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.
Lamentations 3:22-23: It is of the LORD*S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
Jude 1:24: Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
If we don*t want the Bible to correct us, we won*t want it to be profitable for doctrine, reproof or instruction in righteousness either. And we won*t want to be throughly furnished unto all good works.
