Resisting And Quenching Blessing
Doing those things are the epitome of foolishness. But billions of people do them. Resisting the Holy Spirit is resisting blessing. Unbelievers do it all the time. They resist the blessings they could have here on earth AND the blessing of Heaven.Acts 7:51: Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.
Quenching the Holy Spirit is also quenching blessing. It is even more foolish because believers have experienced blessing and should know better. They quench Him more than they know. I have done it too. We quench the blessings we could have on earth. To our flesh the steps to God*s blessing look like unpleasant chores. To our flesh they look like foolishness. To our flesh, giving to others looks like foolishness.Acts 20:35: I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive. Luke 6:38: Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.
Malachi 3:10: Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
Giving in these passages refers to what we give to God Himself and to others by His guidance. And the giving is not just about money. It is also about giving our hearts, our souls, our bodies, our time, our thoughts and our efforts. To God, these things mean more than money. He doesn*t give financial wealth to everyone but He gives us all hearts, souls, bodies and time. Without those things money would be less than worthless.Luke 10:27: And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.
Nobody can bless like God can. He can bless our hearts, souls, minds and everything else. Unless, of course, we hold out on Him.
