Salvation Is Of The Lord 4
John 1:12: But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
We are not born into the Kingdom of God because mortal men want it. We are born into the family of God because God wants it. We are born into the Kingdom of God only by His will and His work.
Ephesians 2:8-10: For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
Baptism by sprinkling or immersing performed by a mortal man is a work done by human hands. Being born into the Kingdom of God is completely the work of God and the operation of His hands.
Psalms 28:5: Because they regard not the works of the LORD, nor the operation of his hands, he shall destroy them, and not build them up.
Isaiah 5:12b: . . . they regard not the work of the LORD, neither consider the operation of his hands.
Colossians 2:10-12: And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: 11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: 12 Buried with him in baptism, (into His death) wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
Romans 6:4: Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: (His death, not water) that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
Luke 3:16: John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:
Charles Haddon Spurgeon:
What shall we say of those who think that conversion is wrought by the free will of man, and is due to his own betterness of disposition? When we shall see the dead rise from the grave by their own power, then may we expect to see ungodly sinners of their own free will turning to Christ. It is not the word preached, nor the word read in itself; all quickening power proceeds from the Holy Ghost. . . . All the soldiers and the high priests could not keep the body of Christ in the tomb; Death himself could not hold Jesus in his bonds: even thus irresistible is the power put forth in the believer when he is raised to newness of life. Ephesians 1:4: According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: No individual*s parents or Pastors or friends were involved in the choice God made to save an individual before the foundation of the world. They had not even been born yet.
Romans 10:13: For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
No one else could call upon the name of the Lord on my behalf.
Jeremiah 29:13: And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
No one else can seek the Lord on my behalf.
John 1:12: But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
No one else can receive Christ on my behalf.
